Amazon Victory Before the Ninth Circuit
On July 2nd, the Ninth Circuit in Johnson v. Amazon.com, Inc., et al., No. 25-2101, affirmed dismissal of a lawsuit filed in 2024 by pro se plaintiff Sheri C. Johnson against Amazon.com, Inc. and Megan Pete (dba Megan Thee Stallion) in the Western District of Washington (Case No. 2:24-cv-01070-JNW). The panel agreed that Ms. Johnson failed to state a claim for a violation of Washington’s Personality Rights Act (“WPRA”) and a claim of intentional infliction of emotional distress. Chris Carraway, Caroline Desmond, Amy Kendig, and Stephanie Fulk worked on the appeal.
