Microsoft Prevails in Patent Infringement Suit
Klarquist’s client Microsoft Corporation prevailed last week at the start of a jury trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Arizona for alleged infringement of six patents asserted by Research Corporation Technologies (RCT). Based on a series of pre-trial rulings in Microsoft’s favor, the parties stipulated that “all claims have been extinguished and for that reason this action is hereby dismissed. RCT reserves all rights to appeal this dismissal and all adverse rulings in this case.” The trial ended after a jury had been selected.
Microsoft was represented at trial by Stephen McGrath of Microsoft; Kristin L. Cleveland, Stephen J. Joncus, Salumeh R. Loesch, Todd M. Siegel, and John D. Vandenberg of Klarquist; and Jeffrey Willis of Snell Wilmer (Tucson, AZ).
RCT was represented by the firms of McDermott Will & Emery (D.C. and Menlo Park, CA) and Rusing & Lopez (Tucson, AZ).
