April 10th CLE: Location, Location, Location: Personal Jurisdiction and Venue in Patent Law

Published May 19, 2025

On April 10th,  Sarah Jelsema and Caroline Desmond presented Location, Location, Location: Personal Jurisdiction and Venue in Patent Law.

Location matters. Where you litigate a patent case can be a critical factor in the outcome. The constitution and venue statutes provide important guardrails for when a court has power over a particular defendant (personal jurisdiction) and when a case may be brought in a particular court (venue). This CLE reviewed those fundamental requirements and discuss considerations pertinent to both plaintiffs and defendants.

If you were unable to attend or would like to reference the materials, the presentation slides are available.
