Travis is a seasoned pharmaceutical and biotech patent attorney who brings substantial technical and legal expertise to the chemistry and life sciences groups. His technical training is in organic and medicinal chemistry, and his practice focus is on counseling clients in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology space with respect to freedom-to operate, patent prosecution, licensing and portfolio management.
Travis has extensive experience both in-house and as outside counsel in building and managing patent portfolios around innovative pharmaceutical products. Travis has prepared patent and non-patent exclusivity filings, including patent term extension applications and Orange Book listings. He has managed due diligence through multiple, licensing and financing transactions for public and private companies. Throughout his career, Travis has worked collaboratively with scientists, business development executives and investors to advise them on intellectual property issues, including patentability, invalidity, non-infringement and portfolio strategy.
Travis began his intellectual property career at Klarquist Sparkman, serving as a technical advisor, patent agent and associate, and returned in 2019 after a decade as in-house intellectual property counsel.
