Sara Slabisak, M.D.

With over a decade of clinical experience in medicine and the life sciences, Dr. Slabisak excels at navigating intellectual property issues related to biotechnology, biosciences, and medical device and diagnostics. As a member of the litigation group, she represents clients on patent, trademark, trade secrets, and unfair competition issues, and Post Grant and Inter Partes Review proceedings at the USPTO.

Dr. Slabisak received an undergraduate degree in biochemistry and cell biology from Rice University, a prestigious, private research university adjacent to the Texas Medical Center––the largest medical city in the world. In 2014, she earned a medical doctorate from McGovern Medical School, where she was invited to complete a postdoctoral associateship at UT Southwestern Medical School in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology, and the Hamon Center for Regenerative Science and Medicine. Her translational research focused on elucidating mechanisms by which chemotherapy leads to cardiotoxicity and subsequent heart failure.

Upon the completion of her associateship, Dr. Slabisak gained significant experience as a consultant for a surgical hardware and medical device company where she contributed to the development of surgical spinal implants.

Dr. Slabisak earned her juris doctorate at Lewis & Clark Law School where, among other notable leadership roles, she served as the Editor in Chief of Environmental Law. In 2021, she graduated cum laude with induction into both the Cornelius Honor Society and the Phi Delta Phi International Legal Honor Society.

Dr. Slabisak joined Klarquist as a summer associate in 2020.
