John focuses on preparation and prosecution of patent applications within the firm’s Mechanical practice group. He also has experience in preparing patentability and prior art searches. John has technical expertise in mechanical devices,  nuclear engineering, and medical devices.

John earned his J.D. from the University of Washington School of Law with a concentration track in intellectual property. During law school, John worked in the Entrepreneurial Law Clinic to provide pro bono representation on intellectual property matters to entrepreneurs and businesses in the greater Seattle area. John also worked with UW CoMotion to perform patent landscape analyses for student inventors.

Prior to beginning his law career, John served in the U.S. Navy as a surface warfare officer. During his time in the Navy he gained experience managing maintenance teams for a wide variety of electrical, communications, and radar systems.

John joined Klarquist as a summer associate in 2022 and became an associate in 2023.
