Klarquist Win for Client Amazon

Published February 6, 2024

Klarquist represented Amazon.com, Inc. in obtaining dismissal of a patent suit entitled Huang v. Amazon.com, Inc., No. 23-CV-04679-NC, 2024 WL 413355 (N.D. Cal. Jan. 26, 2024).  Huang had sued Amazon for alleged patent infringement through its sale of more than 30 consumer electronics products manufactured by Apple, Nintendo, and Samsung, among others, contending that they used EEPROM chips that infringed the asserted patent.  The Northern District of California granted Amazon’s motion to dismiss Huang’s Second Amended Complaint, denied leave to file a further amended complaint, and entered judgment in favor of Amazon.  In particular, the Court held that Huang had failed to adequately allege how any product infringed the asserted claims of the patent and failed to explain how Amazon allegedly induced the infringement by its customers.

Klarquist attorney Robert T. Cruzen represented Amazon in this case.
