Klarquist Attorneys Chosen to Lecture on IP Practices at University of Nevada, Reno

Klarquist Sparkman, LLP attorneys Robert C. Ryan and Ryan A. Heck, Ph.D., have been selected to teach two courses at the University of Nevada, Reno, College of Business Administration in the Masters of Business Administration program. Robert Ryan was named Adjunct Professor, and Ryan Heck was named Lecturer.

The two courses focus on intellectual property from a business perspective. The first course, which is offered in the fall semester, is a survey of intellectual property and its use in business, including an overview of the U.S. and foreign patent processes, trade identity practices, domain name registrations, copyrights, licensing, enforcement, and related topics. The second course, which will begin in the spring of 2007, will focus on business management of intellectual property. This course will focus on managing a company’s intellectual property portfolio, determining valuation strategies, and use of intellectual property in business transactions.

Robert Ryan joined the firm in 2004 as of counsel. He practices in the fields of procuring, licensing, and enforcing, and transactions involving, intellectual property. Mr Ryan’s expertise includes patent, trade secret, trade identity, unfair competition, copyright, and antitrust law and practice.

Ryan Heck, Ph.D. joined the firm in 2004 as an associate. His practice involves all aspects of intellectual property law, including preparation and prosecution of U.S. and foreign patent applications, preparation and prosecution of U.S. trademark applications, litigation, licensing, and providing opinions regarding patentability, validity, and infringement.
