In a verdict delivered on May 6, 2005, after a three-day trial in the U.S. District Court for the District of Oregon, a jury awarded Translogic Technology, Inc., $86.5 million in damages for infringement of its Transmission Gate Series Multiplexer patent (U.S. Patent No. 5,162,666) by Hitachi, Ltd. (Japan), Hitachi America, Ltd., and Renesas Technology America, Inc.  Shortly thereafter, on May 12, 2005, the Court entered a permanent injunction prohibiting the defendants from importing into or selling in the United States the defendants' infringing microprocessors.  The Court had previously determined on summary judgment that Hitachi's SH-4 and certain SH-3 microprocessors infringed one or more claims in Translogic’s patent.  Translogic Technology, Inc., is an Oregon company founded in 1995 to provide improved digital logic circuit designs and technology to the semiconductor industry .  The injunction has been temporarily stayed by the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit while that Court considers Hitachi's motion to stay the injunction pending appeal.   Klarquist Sparkman's representation of Translogic at the trial was headed by partner Jeffrey Love.
